Captain Eric

On Sunday 19th November,Hastings Half Marathon Race Director for all the 22 years of the Event Eric Hardwick, was appointed Captain of Highwoods(Bexhill) Golf Club. Eric, a member for 37 years, looks upon this as a great honour to serve one of the Finest Golf Courses in the South. The Theme of his Drive In on Sunday, was of course the Half Marathon, with Eric having to go through the Start Banner and cut the tape, with members wearing yellow Hastings Half Marathon Marshal Bibs surrounding the first tee. Eric wore his Yellow Half Marathon Cap. His first shot was to hit a Potato of the tee, in recognition of his 40 years in the potato trade, then after drinking a strange concoction, and being spun around, hit a beautiful Drive down the first fairway.
His chosen Charities for his year are Motor Neurone Disease and St. Michael's Hospice.
For the next few months though Eric will be pretty busy organising the Half Marathon on Sunday 11th March 2007. he has asked member of Highwoods to enter the Event, and have a team in the Sports Team category for Highwoods Golf Club. He denied that Prizes on his Captain's Day would be Free Entries for the Event!
Hopefully after March he can enjoy a little more Golf.
